Bec Judd’s charity drop causes a stir for brand and Salvos

When Bec Judd’s gift from a designer friend ended up in the local charity bin, it created an unexpected ripple effect.

Rebecca Judd: The most controversial moments

Lorinska Merrington’s new clothing range and the Salvos store in Hampton are the big winners of the “Judd effect’’.

Last weekend it emerged that former AFL WAG Bec Judd appeared to donate a gift from former Yummy Mummies star Merrington to the charity bin.

Merrington says her new clothing range Royale By Lorinska was already a huge success, but the incident has attracted more attention which has forced her to bring forward the release of her latest styles.

The Salvos store said they had experienced a busier than usual week after anonymous Instagram account Celeb Spellcheck shared a photo of the donated size 8 set that Judd had posted with her daughter Billie to showcase the brand.

Merrington admitted she was disappointed the focus had been taken away from her launch after Judd’s perceived snub, but was pleased with the response for her venture which had been 12 months in the making.

“I have been thrilled with the customer response since our launch,’’ Merrington told the Herald Sun.

“We have been overwhelmed with the feedback from mothers who have invested in Royale pieces to create special memories with their little ones.

“I can’t wait to introduce people to our next Royale style on Thursday, which we have had to bring forward due to demand. It’s the perfect everyday essential.”

Merrington stepped out on Friday night supporting her close friend, celebrity stylist Lana Wilkinson, who was the creative director behind the Melbourne Fashion Festival’s finale runway show.
