Hollywood star Zac Efron has been seen filming in Melbourne as he makes his way around his adopted home of Australia.

Shooting for his Netflix docuseries, Down To Earth, Efron was smiling and laughing with a crew at Joost Bakker’s Greenhouse at Federation Square on Monday.

Greenhouse is a combined home and urban farm operating on solar power, with the goal to grow all the food its inhabitants cook and eat.

Efron, 33, has just been raving about one of his most recent filming locations, Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

He cradled a joey and said it was a “beautiful island” in an exclusive video with The Advertiser, adding: “What a gem of a place, I just love it here.”

The Greatest Showman and High School Musical actor had swum with dolphins and said in a video of the experience: “I’ve never been that close to dolphins, that was mind-blowing.

“Under water you can hear them talking, communicating … it’s just fascinating, it was really cool.”

In a second photo featured on his Instagram, Efron was beaming alongside his younger brother Dylan, 29, carrying the joey.

Efron is currently travelling around Australia with wellness expert Darin Olien for their series which follows their search for healthy and sustainable ways to live, as well as covering the local food, culture and customs.

Efron arrived in Australia in March last year, spent time in Byron Bay and then travelled to South Australia to film a Stan Original movie called Gold.

He has been dating Aussie girlfriend Vanessa Valladares since they met in Byron Bay.

Just last week a Melbourne filmmaker accused Netflix of ripping off his documentary TV series to make its own show fronted by Efron.

Ben Waddell, a former model now based in New York, says the Netflix series was almost a copy of his eco-travel program.

He filmed a pilot of Down To Earth With Ben Waddell in 2017, only for Netflix to broadcast its own eight-part series Down to Earth With Zac Efron in 2020.

Now a second season of the Efron series is being filmed in Australia.

The Efron series is made by US production company Nacelle.

Both Nacelle and Netflix were contacted for comment.
