Bec Judd credits being a germaphobe for not getting sick while competing on The Amazing Race.

Judd, who is on the show with her sister Kate, admits she was not happy about having to pick up poo with her bare hands.

“It was interesting, they really threw us into these challenges that were quite foul so shovelling poo and I was like where are the gloves?” Judd said on KIIS FM’s Jase and Lauren.

“You know I worked at The Alfred Hospital, I have four kids, I’ve got a puppy, I’m used to vomit and poo and secretions, but we always had gloves and masks, so it was okay. But this is bare hands, and I was not happy about it.”

Judd said the experience in India was the hardest thing she’s ever done.

“When I found out it was India, being a complete germaphobe, my sister and I, you should’ve seen our first-aid kit,’’ she said.

“Half of my kit was medication. I had more medication than the medic on the show. People were going down left, right and centre in India.

“Kate and I were the only team that didn’t shit ourselves. Everyone was giving us a hard time about being germaphobes and packing too much medication and every food challenge I’d put Travelan (tablets) in my mouth beforehand but Kate would pop it in so we wouldn’t touch it with our fingers.

“Everyone gave us a hard time saying we overreacted, but we were one of the only teams, I think there was maybe one other that weren’t actually vomiting and shitting our way through India.”

She added: “It is so much harder than I ever imagined, and we are superfans of The Amazing Race, my sister and I. We were watching in high school and it’s one of those reality TV shows that we said if we ever got offered that, we would actually do that one. First phone call, we were in straight away.

“I loved it but there were parts that I absolutely hated and wanted to give up.”

“My sister, once we finished, she would wake up in the middle of the night and she would get her hiking bag and her racing kit and put it on and start sleepwalking through the house being like ‘where are the clues, we’ve got to go’ and her husband would have to get her up and put her to bed and say you aren’t on the race anymore Kate.”
