Jodi Anasta has admitted it was a scary time when she put her hand up to ask for help.
The Neighbours actor was forced to take leave from the show after suffering from exhaustion while working and flying between Melbourne and Sydney to co-parent her five year-old daughter Aleeia.
She has been back at work for two weeks and is confident she is on the right track.
“It’s a scary thing to put your hand up and say I’m not coping, I need a minute,’’ she told Confidential.
“It’s a very scary thing, but at the end of the day you have to look after your mental and physical health and just be honest about how you feel.
“I just had to take some time to get myself right again. I’ve been going well for two to three years, (I was telling myself) I’ve got this, I’ve got this.”
Anasta is grateful for the support and said her condition helped open up conversations with her daughter who she shares with ex-husband Braith Anasta.
“Through this I’ve had the opportunity to talk to her about what happens when you’re not feeling well and how we should talk about it when we’re feeling something’s wrong,’’ Anasta said.
“Getting her to understand where I’m at and what happens with work and travel and that I do my best. She’s such a beautiful little girl.”
