A LUXURIOUS gated complex on the Gold Coast has been hit by a cluster of burglaries and break-ins.
It’s hoped CCTV installed at Hope Island Resort on Rialto Quay Dr at Hope Island will help Queensland Police officers track down the culprits.
Reports have emerged on social media that about nine homes were raided over the weekend.
It’s understood some homes had windows or doors left unlocked, while some residents had locked up tight but were the victims of forced entries.
A Gold Coast Police spokesman said: “Police are looking into reports of a number of alleged burglaries - or attempted burglaries - in Hope Island over the weekend.”

Police were also asked how many burglaries occurred and when, what was stolen, whether anyone had been arrested or charged and whether officers have been or will examine CCTV footage. No response to those questions was forthcoming.
Community page Hope Island News & Crime and Community issued a warning to residents in the suburb: “It has been brought to our attention that approximately 9 properties have been broken into in the Hope Island Resort over the weekend.
“The majority of properties targeted had unlocked windows or doors making it easy for offenders to target those,” administrators said.
Broadwater MP David Crisafulli said he had been “inundated with messages for help from Hope Island residents following a spate of break and enters in the last week”.
He said the “beautiful suburb” had drawn the attention of “low life individuals” and he was “determined to shed some light on our lack of police in the northern Gold Coast”.
“In the meantime, I’ve started discussions with senior police about having our suburb transferred from the over-stretched Coomera Station to Runaway Bay Station,” he said.

“While this still needs to come with additional resources to be effective, I feel the likelihood of regular patrols will be increased by being serviced from a station in a more established area rather than constantly competing for resources with the high density growth corridors to our north.”
