Tram surfing on the Gold Coast

Shocking video of a teenager clinging to the door of a Gold Coast tram for seconds before falling off has emerged on social media.

The 17-second video was posted on TikTok on December 5 and in less than 24 hours had racked up more than 226,000 views.

The video, which was filmed inside the tram, shows a teenager clinging to the outside of a tram door as it travels through the Gold Coast.

In the background the tram appears to pass the Broadbeach McDonalds heading north.

After about 13 seconds he falls off.

He does not appear to be injured.

The dangerous stunt was filmed from inside the tram with the some onlookers laughing.

“What if he falls off, c***?,” one said moments before the teen fell.

The video uploader, who goes by the handle Gunter21, was asked if the tram surfer was an “eshay”.

“Can definitely it was an eshay and also confirm he tried to fight us 2 mins (sic) before this happened,” they responded.

Another person asked if the teen was okay.

“Got up and walked it off like a champ,” Gunter21 responded.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman declined to comment on the behaviour.

A GoldlinQ spokeswoman condemned the behaviour.

“Reckless behaviour like this is extremely dangerous,” she said.

“We have a simple message for those engaging in this activity – don’t put yourself and others at risk.”

The spokeswoman warned the behaviour was not only dangerous but also came with penalties of up to $550 for interfering with public transport infrastructure.

“There are more than 300 CCTV cameras across the network, which are monitored 24/7, and this behaviour will be immediately reported to the Queensland Police Service,” the spokeswoman said.
