The have released the new information into the suspicious death investigation in a bid to help their probe.

Police were conducting a welfare check which was ordered by interstate relatives at an Edinburgh Road home in Benowa when they found the 69-year-old’s remains.

Gold Coast detectives believe the man had been dead inside the home for more than 12 months.

Acting detective inspector of the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch Mark Proctor confirmed Mr Neme’s 70-year-old wife and 48-year-old stepson had been living in the house while his body was decomposing.

“The body was in an advanced state of decomposition,” he said.

“It did have a mummified look to it.”

Mr Proctor said the wife and stepson were being treated as persons of interest and had been co-operating with police “to an extent”.

Police were also investigating whether or not the body had been tampered with or moved.

The photos released by police of the man include him with his friends and family at a wedding and the front of his home.
