Gold Coast: Brandon Lee Jukes faces Southport court after allegedly slashing woman with knife on Marine Parade at Kirra

The man accused of slashing a woman with a knife as she tried to break free of his grasp on the southern Gold Coast can now be identified.

THE man who allegedly slashed a woman – out for a morning walk – with a knife as she tried to break free of his grasp will spend the next month in custody.

Brandon Lee Jukes did not appear in Southport Magistrates Court or apply for bail when his matter was heard on Tuesday morning.

The 20-year-old is charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery, unlawful wounding and possession of a knife in a public place.

Magistrate Kay Philipson adjourned the matter to October 19.

Juke is expected to apply for Legal Aid in the meantime.

Police allege the woman was walking on the beach side of Marine Parade, near Powell Crescent, in Kirra when Jukes attempted to grab her.

Jukes was allegedly not known to the woman.

It is alleged the woman resisted and was left with a 6cm cut to her left forearm.

Jukes then allegedly fled.

The woman was taken to Robina Hospital for treatment.
