Three charged, one injured after armed home invasions at Robina, Varsity Lakes

Gold Coast residents have endured a night of terror after two separate armed home invasions in three hours, one of which left a man in hospital after he was allegedly bashed with a baseball bat. LATEST.

Police responded to two separate violent break-ins on Monday night in Robina and Varsity Lakes – one of which left a man in hospital after he was allegedly bashed with a baseball bat.

There are no indications the two incidents were linked.

Parkmore Close, Robina

Police have charged two boys and one man after an alleged armed robbery on Monday night.

Police allege the trio arrived at a home on Parkmore Close, Robina at about 10.10pm.

One of the men allegedly armed with a machete, entered the property and demanded money from a 17-year-old occupant who was known to him.

The 17-year-old handed over the money and sustained minor injuries, but did not have to be taken to hospital.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy outside the property, then arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man in a car nearby.

The 15-year-old Robina boy was charged with one count of armed robbery, common assault and enter dwelling. He was not granted police bail and is set to appear in the Southport Children’s Court on July 29.

The 16-year-old Bonogin boy was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, one count of armed robbery, common assault, and possessing property suspected of having been used in the commission of a drug offence. He was granted police bail and is set to appear in the Southport Childrens Court on August 4.

The 20-year-old Mudgeeraba man was charged with one count of armed robbery, common assault and enter dwelling. He was granted police bail and is set to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on August 11.

Northshore Ave, Varsity Lakes

Just three hours later, a man was allegedly bashed with a baseball bat during a violent break-in at Varsity Lakes.

A QPS spokeswoman said at around 1.15am on July 29, three men arrived at a Northshore Ave home armed with machetes and a baseball bat.

The trio entered the property and bashed a 34-year-old man in the home with a baseball bat.

The men also damaged property, before they were disturbed by neighbour and left in the same car they arrived in.

Police believe the trio were driving a Toyota Hilux ute.

The 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries to his face, torso and legs in a stable condition, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

Police are appealing to the community for any information which may help them find the men.
