A man who allegedly “slashed” his victim across the face in a vicious attack on the central Gold Coast has been identified.

A man who allegedly “slashed” another man across the face on the Gold Coast is expected to face court next month.

Police allege Surfers Paradise man Lewis Taylor, 24, approached and attacked a 30-year-old man with an implement about midnight on Monday at Peninsular Dr, Surfers Paradise.

The Bulletin understands the incident occurred at a hostel where both men were staying.

The victim suffered a significant cut to his face and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Taylor has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

His case was briefly mentioned in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Taylor did not appear in court and did not apply for bail.

A duty lawyer speaking on his behalf said the 24-year-old was in the process of applying for legal aid.

Legal Aid Queensland offers legal help to financially disadvantaged Queenslanders across criminal, family and civil matters.

Anyone seeking legal aid must first apply for a grant and to be eligible they must meet the organisation’s financial eligibility tests.

Taylor’s matter was adjourned to October 4.

He was due to remain in custody until his next appearance.

Earlier: A man has been charged after he allegedly “slashed” another man across the face on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast police were tasked to Peninsular Drive in Surfers Paradise about 11.55pm on Monday, after a wounding was reported.

A 24-year-old Surfers Paradise man was charged after he allegedly approached and attacked a 30-year-old man with an “unknown implement”, a police spokeswoman said.

Queensland Ambulance Service stated a man suffered a significant cut to his face and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police arrested the 24-year-old man at a residence in Surfers Paradise a short time after the alleged attack.

The Surfers Paradise man was charged with grievous bodily harm.

He was expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
