A Gold Coast unit has lit up in flames for the second time in less than 48 hours.

Emergency services were called to the Central St estate in Labrador at 9am Friday morning – less than 48 hours after the same unit was declared a crime scene.

It is unclear if the fire was reignited, which can occur when a fire has been extinguished but the heat and embers from the fire remain.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said seven crews attended the scene.

No one was in the unit at the time.

Emergency services were initially called to the Central St address at 7.20pm on Wednesday to a suspicious two-storey unit fire.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman at the time confirmed the unit was “fully involved” with seven fire crews called to the scene.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the fire was contained and a crime scene was declared around 8.20pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one person had been assessed by paramedics but declined transport to hospital.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

The unit fire was the second, now third in the area in a week, after another unit fire on Whiting St on Friday.

Emergency services were called to a private address at around 11.40am to “heavy smoke” issuing from a unit.

A QFD spokeswoman confirmed eight fire crews attended a fire on the ground level, which managed to reach the second level.

All residents were evacuated and no one was physically injured.

Police confirmed the cause of fire was undetermined, however, QFD deemed it non-suspicious.

No one was physically injured as a result of the fire and a crime scene was declared.

Police have since charged a 47-year-old Labrador man with two counts of arson in relation to the Little Usher Ave fire.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on September 9.
