The trainer of Logan’s boxing dynamo Skye Nicolson says the postponement of the Olympic Games would mean she would be in even better shape come 2021.
Wayne Tolton from the Albert Boxing Club said Nicolson would be more experienced and better equipped after her bronze medal winning effort at the 2020 Asia & Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Amman, Jordan.

Despite the Games being delayed 12 months due to the coronavirus crisis, Nicolson was locked and loaded having now qualified for the Games.
Nicolson, a southpaw in the women’s 57kg division in Jordan, continued to gather experience at the qualification tournament.
“At that level, anything you do is a valuable experience,’’ Tolton said.
“It is crucial to obtain that experience.

“She is becoming more and more familiar with that level of competition.’’
He said the delay in the Games was disappointing “but not the end of the world’’.
“She will be even more ready (in 2021),’’ Tolton said.
“It is all positive now.
“She can’t wait until this passes and gets on with her prep. She now has even longer to get ready.’’
Tolton said the Yatala-based boxer performed extremely well in reaching the semi-finals and winning a medal.
“She was confident, fit and strong. She got a lot out of it.
“She will be constantly improving and working on any weaknesses, constantly working on those things,’’ he said of the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
