THE Titans may have struggled in the past couple of years but it’s easy to forget just how good they were in the early years.
The Bulletin has had a go at ranking the 20 best players.
REWIND: THE VERY BEST OF THE LOST TITANS SERIES
Criteria wasn’t just based on ability but what they brought to the side, with those part of winning teams given an edge over others who didn’t enjoy such success.
Today we look at numbers 10-6.
FOOTY TRAGEDY: YOUNG COAST PLAYER PASSES AWAY
10. WILLIAM ZILLMAN
Signed as a talented but injury-hit Raiders fullback, Zillman proved a talisman for the Titans across 156 games.
His career ended in 2017 was unceremoniously cut but he had done more than enough to earn a spot in the top 10.
9. NATE MYLES
Has divided opinion somewhat on if the Maroons veteran proved his true worth across 75 games from 2012-15.
TITANS SET TO MISS OUT ON NRL GUN
However it was undeniable that the forward added professionalism to the Titans in that time and played his part. It’s telling that the club would probably love a player like Myles now.
8. RYAN JAMES
The current club captain has endured a horror stretch the past two seasons with twin ACL tears.
However there has never been any questions over his dedication to the cause, or his likability.
Fans would love to see him add to his games tally of 144.
7. ANTHONY LAFFRANCHI
Murwillumbah-born forward evolved from first-grader at Wests Tigers to Origin and Aussie player after his 2007 switch north.
His 102 matches were the best of his career and helped the club reach finals, a fact that gives him the edge over other forwards on the list.
6. JAI ARROW
Another hard player to rank given he’s been the club’s best for two years and 40 games, albeit in terrible campaigns.
Perhaps the true value of his worth is the fact he would still be a strong performer even in a better side, and we won’t let the fact he’s joining Souths in 2021 stop him from holding a high ranking.
