THE Tweed and Gold Coast rugby league communities are in mourning after the passing of beloved player Chris Cameron.
Posts by Bilambil Jets and Tweed Coast Raiders clubs on social media have been flooded with comments lauding the impact Cameron – nicknamed Rubes – had on the game and their clubs.

“Sad news today Jets Family with former Jets player Chris Cameron passing away,” a Bilambil statement read.
“Rubes was always a perfect club man and it’s times like these you realise how close knit our rugby league community actually is. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all Chris’ friends, family and loved ones.”
Likewise, the Tweed Coast Raiders posted a tribute to Cameron, who died on Friday.
“Absolutely heartbroken to be sharing the news that one of our Raiders sadly passed away,” the club wrote.
“Chris Cameron aka Rubes you were without doubt one of the most popular members of our Raiders family
“Your one liners will forever be missed …
“The next time we take the field will be for you, our brother. R.I.P.”
