AUSSIE RULES
Like most Suns recruits, Jy Farrar is focused on nabbing a spot in the club’s 2020 round one team.
But first, he is also on a mission to shed an unwanted nickname from his days in Adelaide. “Not from the boys,” he said when asked if he’d been given a nickname yet.
“The boys last year called me NASA which means I’m only good out in space.
“I don’t like it but it was one that stuck.”

RUGBY UNION
Which former Bachelorette villain has been named in a Gold Coast rugby club’s team of the decade?
Fans of Sophie Monk’s 2017 season will remember well the controversial Gold Coast Eagles halfback, who cracked a foul-mouthed tantrum after being cut loose by Monk.
It raised eyebrows because the playmaker said on his first appearance that he wasn’t interested in girls who swore.
SURF LIFE SAVING
In addition to Steak Club, it appears the boys from Currumbin SLSC also love wrestling. Nutri-Grain athletes Ben Carberry and Jy Timperley as well as veteran Hayden White were spotted wrestling on the sands of Mermaid Beach last Friday as the Summer of Surf carnival held it’s first few heats.
They must be putting all that red meat iron goodness to use.

Titans prop Jarrod Wallace may have a little less free time on his hands following the club’s sponsorship deal with Village Roadshow Theme Parks.
The father-of-three said the arrangement with the parent company of Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild, Topgolf, Paradise Country and the Australian Outback Spectacular would open the door for Titans players to spend more time at the world-famous Gold Coast theme parks.
“They’d better be careful, I might send them out of business with all the food and things like that,” he joked.
“The girls love coming here … and we’ve got all the passes and the theme parks always look after us really well. We love coming to it looks like all my free time now will be at the theme park so it will be good.”

Gold Coaster Kade McBride is living the dream in more ways than one.
The 24-year-old second-year pro, who will play in the Australian PGA Championship beginning tomorrow at Royal Pines, revealed life at his Sanctuary Cove home was pretty cruisy.
“We have golf buggies at our house and we drive those around like cars. EazyGo sponsor me and look after me so they gave me a buggy for that and I’m able just to cruise around there, do my practice and it’s nice and easy and efficient,” he said.

The Brisbane Heat will return to Metricon Stadium to face the Melbourne Stars on Friday and big-hitting opener Max Bryant is feeling the … well, heat.
The Gold Coast Dolphins young gun said playing in front of loved ones added another degree of difficulty to Brisbane’s Big Bash League assignment.
“It puts a bit more pressure on actually, trying to perform in front of them,” the 20-year-old said.
“(But) I love playing in front of family and friends to see how proud they are of me. It’s good.”

Entertaining professional golfer Jack Wilson will be undergoing “The Dreaded Shave” at this year’s Australian PGA Championship.
Wilson has enjoyed a cult following on the tour because of his dreadlocks, beard and charismatic personality.
But the 29-year-old will shave his head after Round two of the PGA on Friday in order to raise funds for charity Challenge - supporting kids with cancer.
If he reaches $50,000 he will also shave his beard.
To donate, visit www.challenge.org.au/donation/ and select “The Dreaded Shave”.
NEW TITANS DEAL ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS SUCCESS
RUGBY LEAGUE
The Gold Coast Titans media session was done in the dark last Thursday after their Parkwood base lost power.
A big storm cell brought enormous amounts of rain and it left the media completing their interviews in the dark.
It was the second surprise of the day for Titan Darius Farmer who was under the impression he was heading into the room to do football vision, only to find a room of journalists waiting for him.

There may be more than on-field performances undermining Alberton Ormeau’s Kookaburra Cup campaign.
With the winless Hurricanes still bottom of the ladder after 10 rounds, The Sniper understands there is some off-field turmoil and infighting hampering last season’s grand finalists.
