SUPER 20 PLAYERS FROM ROUND 2
Torino Jackson and Reuben Dickson (Palm Beach Currumbin SHS)
PBC SHS’s forward depth is evident when you consider these two high achievers were performing so well in the reserves.
The foundation of PBC SHS’s success this decade has been able to put out hard working, no work rate forwards to form a screen for their halves and these two boys fit the mould.
James Pau (Ipswich SHS)
For those that weren’t there, imagine a human wrecking ball who swung the match with his sheer physicality and timely defensive plays.
Year 11 prop James Pau, who last year was a middle forward wonder for the school’s Year 10 side, forced a drop ball when the game was in the balance and with the ball in hand sent defenders flying on two occasions.
Ethan Court (Ipswich SHS)
In what was a gripping battle between two evenly matched sides, the pin point kicking game of Ipswich’s halfback Ethan Court was a highlight.
Court’s short kicking game was threatening and his towering high kicks also created pressure.
Quincy Paese (Ipswich SHS)
Ipswich SHS’s stand-in lock Quincy Paese brought his A game alongside the most physical on the park, James Pau.
With Ethan O’Dea out injured with a broken thumb, Paese stood up and did some quality work, as did tough five-eighth Unique Waerehu.

LANGER TROPHY PLAYERS FLYING UNDER THE RADAR
Titus Marsden (Mabel Park SHS)
A walking highlight reel it seems, Mabel playmaker Titus Marsden created two of the finest tries you’ll see this season.
His try assists were polar opposites, the first an incredible left to right cut out pass and the second a wonderful pop pass which sent his teammate barrelling through what was a non-existent hole.
He was first class.
Evanda Tofilau (Mabel Park SHS)
The glue of Mabel’s defence, prop Evanda Tofilau put in a huge shift, holding the middle together like his life depended on it.
Wearing Jersey No.22, Tofilau started strong and maintained the rage into the final stages.
Sonny Herdegen (Wavell SHS)
Sonny Herdegen looked like a Langer Trophy player in reserve grade in a performance which included a dashing run from the ruck and a one-on-one strip at a crucial time when Marsden had momentum.
He featured an effortless left to right pass from the ground and in defence entangled himself around the ball.
Herdegen was unlucky to be held up over the line and also made a long distance break after scooping up the ball on the ground which led to his centre Carlos Ka scooting over.
He was moved to halfback with 15 minutes to go and looked at home.
Tayshaarn Tonga (Marsden SHS)
It was a match for dummy halves with Tonga busy with his own running game off the back of his hard working middle forwards who included interchange warhorses Toma Oti and Jared Cook and starting prop Cooper Young.
James Spicer (Wavell SHS)
Spicer was magnificent across a match which was only decided in the final seconds. Against big, physical rivals he ripped into his way, spinning and fighting hard to win the ruck and working overtime in defence.
Carlos Ka (Wavell SHS)
A little like Sonny Herdegen, Ka looked like a Langer Trophy player in reserve grade despite the limited opportunities he had in the centres.
Troy Ellis (Keebra Park SHS)
Was extremely dangerous all game on the Keebra left edge, running some hard lines and finishing the match with two tries.
Tavita Tima (Keebra Park SHS)
Was strong in the centres and even forced his way into the second row as a damaging ball runner. Tima has great flair and added x-factor to his side.
Rhino Markey (Caloundra SHS)
Markey stepped up to the plate as captain in round two and was impressive again for his side at fullback. He had his opposition in two minds every time he touched the ball and was well supported by key forward Sonny Kendall-Torri.
Jordan Seuao (Redcliffe SHS)
Seuao has been a stand out in the first two rounds for Redcliffe SHS and is pushing for a spot in the Langer Trophy team as a result.
In the last round he played centre where he scored a try, ran the ball hard and broke tackles every time he touched the ball.
Jackson Sambrooks (Redcliffe SHS)
The young halfback is a tremendous squad member who is a Stanley Rivers junior where he has already made his senior debut. Sambrooks’ tactical kicking has been eye-catching, along with his control of the matches.
