Kingscliff forward James Brennan bagged five goals as the Wolves ran roughshod over Nerang in Saturday’s FQPL3 South Coast Round 8 clash at Walter Peate Reserve.
The final score, 15-0 to Kingscliff, is believe to be the most lopsided win in Football Gold Coast top-flight history.
Brennan now has eight goals in two games, after his hat-trick in Round 7 against Burleigh Heads, and moves into the top five total pointscorers in the Cyber League.

Incredibly, no Gold Coast Cyber League managers had James Brennan in their team this week – meaning his league-leading 230 points had zero impact on the Cyber League standings.
Four Kingscliff players rate in the top 10 pointscorers this week.
It is also the second-consecutive week that the competition’s leading pointscorer came from a team playing against Nerang, after Runaway Bay’s Fikret Mehic scored a double hat-trick in Round 7.
Meanwhile, Luke Roiter hit a hat-trick as reigning champions Southport rolled Musgrave 7-2.
Roiter’s efforts rewarded his Cyber League managers with 150 points - the second-highest weekly total.

Gold Coast Cyber League: Team of the Week Round 7
Gold Coast Football Cyber League managers who started Fikret Mehic for the opening round of the competition are rubbing their hands with glee after the Bayhawks forward’s massive day out earned him Player of the Week honours.
Mehic scored a double hat-trick – six goals – in Runaway Bay’s 10-1 rout of Nerang at Glennon Park.

His monster score of 270 points was the clear best total of the opening round of competition, and lifted him into outright top for the overall player points totals through seven rounds of FQPL3 South Coast.
Mehic doubled his season goalscoring tally and ended a two-week goals drought in emphatic fashion against the Eagles.
But Mehic was not the only player to bag a hat-trick in the Cyber League’s opening weekend.
Palm Beach forward Josh Squires put three in the net in the Sharks’ 9-1 win over Tallebudgera, while Kingscliff’s James Brennan more than doubled his season points tally with three goals in a 5-3 win over Burleigh.
Tom Miller (PB – 130), Andrew Mackintosh (BUR – 110) and Tomoki Asakawa (BRO – 110) were the other players to eclipse the 100-point mark.
Because the Robina-Southport clash was postponed to a later date, Cyber League weekly prizes will not be awarded until that match can be completed, as per the competition terms and conditions.
Team of the Week: Seven clubs represented in list of top scorers
Reigning FQPL3 South Coast champions Southport lead the way with five nominations for the inaugural Gold Coast Football Cyber League Team of the Week.
The Warriors have players represented in every line this week, following a dominant 3-0 win over Nerang in Round 6.
Southport ‘keeper Scott Semple led all glovemen with 70 points after keeping a clean sheet against the Eagles, while Burleigh’s Oliver Roddan joins him in the team on 30 points following the Bulldogs’ 2-1 win over Runaway Bay.
In front of the goalkeepers, Leon Bell starred with 90 points after hitting the scoresheet in Robina’s 3-1 win over Musgrave.
Marco Wegener scored Bay’s only goal in the loss to Burleigh, handing he and his Cyber League managers a handy 80 points.
Keeping cleansheets gives you points and that’s why Southport pairing Andrew Ridden and Angus Hughes make the team this week, each with 70.
Moving into midfield and the most-capped Cyber League player, Justin Watmough, is once again among the top pointsgetters. He joins Southport’s Ross Panes and Robina’s Raphael Chiezzi as goalscoring midfielders earning 80 points in Round 6.
Leading Cyber League star Henry Adams rounds out the midfield group with a solid 30 points.
Up front it’s the Luke Roiter show – the only man to score a brace in Round 6 and for that, he tips the scale at 110 points and earns Player of the Week honours.
Below the Warriors’ frontman is a logjam of sole goalscorers, with Fraser Eller, Shaun Robinson, George Codrea and Gabriel Legaspi all turning in sold 70-point outings.
If Cyber League managers picked this exact line-up for Round 6, they would be sitting pretty on 1000 weekly points.

Player of the Week: Roiter brace leads the way for Southport
SOUTHPORT forward Luke Roiter is your Gold Coast Football Cyber League Player of the Week for match week six.
The Warriors forward was the only player to bag a brace over the weekend; his two goals helping Southport cruise to a 3-0 win over Nerang at Ashmore Village Park.
Roiter doubled his season goal tally and in the process rewarded the 6.7 per cent of Cyber League managers that picked him in their team.
The forward’s 110 weekly points lifted him into eighth overall on the Cyber League season points tally with 295 points.
He is now the fourth-highest ranked forward in the competition, behind Fikret Mehic (370), Fraser Eller (310) and Josh Squires (300).
Robina defender Leon Bell scored 90 points for his Cyber League managers, making him second-best pointscorer for the weekend.
Meanwhile four players produced 80-point performances, including the league’s most-picked player, Broadbeach midfielder Justin Watmough.
Marco Wegener (DEF – Runaway Bay), Ross Panes (MID – Southport) and Raphael Chiezzi (MID – Robina) also bagged 80 weekly points.
Spare a thought for Runaway Bay midfielder Victor Vasquez, who came off the bench and was shown red – leaving the Bayhawks down a player and his Cyber League managers with -15 points to show for it.

Coach’s simple approach to win $16k Gold Coast Cyber League
RUNAWAY Bay FQPL3 coach Nathan Jones has kept it simple, stupid, when picking what he hopes will be the winning Gold Coast Football Cyber League squad.
The aim of the game is goals and Jones knows that better than anyone, with two of the competition’s top scorers part of his Bayhawks side.

Fikret Mehic (six goals) and Ethan Leighton (five) also found their way into his Cyber League team, in a nod from coach to player that they are doing the right things.
Like Pep Guardiola in the Champions League, Cyber League managers can sometimes outsmart themselves at team selection. Not Jones.
He has stuck with the competition’s name brand players – Watmough, Miller, Barwick – who he has seen, over the years, consistently produce top performances.
“If you’re around long enough you know who the top players are. Hopefully they can do the business and get me some points,” he said.
“(The Cyber League) is a fantastic idea. It’s brought everyone together. You can hear it during games, boys winding each other up to score points for them.”
Cyber League: The most-picked players at each position
BROADBEACH’S Justin Watmough is the most popular team selection among Gold Coast Football Cyber League contestants, with a whopping 91 per cent of managers placing the midfield metronome in their starting line-up.
With only one week to go until the Cyber League begins, selection trends are starting to show through and the same familiar faces are popping up across the competition.

Leading the pack is Watmough, the Dolphins’ inspirational captain who is well-respected across the competition.
His consistent selection is even more impressive when considering the total number of unique midfielders selected is more than any other position.
Other names that feature prominently across the competition include Palm Beach goalkeeper Jackson Boyd (73 per cent) and Robina defender Dylan Barwick (73 per cent), who both appear in just under three-quarters of all squads.
If the competition is to be won or lost in any position group, though, it looks to be up front.
The goalscorers are also a team’s main pointscorers and thus the most important positional group to get right for any Cyber League manager worth his or her salt.
So the fact there is currently a three-way tie for the most-selected forward in the Cyber League makes for interesting reading.
FQPL3 South Coast leading goalscorer Fikret Mehic from Runaway Bay is joined by Tally Tigers talisman Matt Hilton and Robina’s Trent Barwick in 64 per cent of all Cyber League teams.
