Shane Warne SuperCoach column: Recruit Rashid Khan to skipper ‘Club 23 Legends’
Rashid Khan is in my opinion the best Twenty20 player in the world, and I left him out of my side for the opening round of SuperCoach Big Bash, but that’s about to change, writes Shane Warne.

I owe Rashid Khan an apology.
The Adelaide Strikers star is in my opinion the best Twenty20 player in the world, and I left him out of my side for the opening round of SuperCoach Big Bash.
As soon as he came on to bowl against the Heat I regretted the decision.

I was punished, with the gun leggie taking three wickets and notching 129 points in the process.
All good men learn from their mistakes, so Rashid will be making his debut for the ‘Club 23 Legends’ in week two.
To make up for the lack of faith, he’ll also skipper my side which made a reasonable start to the season with a 721-point effort.
With the captain’s armband on Rashid, I’ll be looking to reel in Isa Guha who belted out 1043 points thanks to a Ben Cutting demolition job against the Hurricanes.
Unfortunately, I came up against Isa in my head-to-head match up which ended badly.
I’ll be using all three trades this week with a focus on the Strikers who have the double round.
1. AJ Tye to Rashid Khan
If I had a blank canvas and had to pick a Twenty20 team of anyone in the world, Rashid is just about my first pick.
Very few batsmen can pick his lethal wrong-un and he has terrific pace variations.
He bowls fairly quick for a legspinner, but his speed makes it extremely difficult for batsmen to get down the wicket to him.
He’s so dominant that I may just leave him as captain for the remainder of the season.
Rashid comes in at the expense of AJ Tye who disappointed with just 53 points despite having the double round.
2. Chris Lynn to Alex Carey
It’s with a heavy heart that I part ways with Chris Lynn, but with the Heat having two consecutive byes coming up he has to go.
In the form of his life, Alex Carey is a great replacement after knocking out 132 points in the opening round.
Carey has always been a quality cricketer, but in recent weeks he’s been in a purple patch and has starred in all forms of the game.
3. David Willey to Matt Short
David Willey is another who disappointed with a pair of opportunities for the Scorchers. SuperCoach is a tough business, so he’s been axed for his poor performances.
I’ve gone a little left-field with his replacement in recruiting another Striker in Matt Short. Short isn’t owned by many coaches, so I see him as a great point of difference option to bolster my ranking.
Short has great all-round skills and really knows his game.
He’s batting in the top four and was extremely economical with the ball against the Heat while also picking up two scalps.
