The Bulletin last week revealed Platinum Investments, headed by Elias Armenis, wants to suspend an Instagram-friendly pool four storeys above the city in southern Surfers Paradise.
The 40-storey tower is planned for a 1201sq m vacant site on the corner of Gold Coast Highway and First Ave, just south of the Crown Plaza.
Developer SPG Land has already lodged plans with the Gold Coast City Council for Paradiso Place, a massive $800m three-tower project in Surfers Paradise.

RACE TO BUILD COAST’S FIRST SUSPENDED POOL
A Sydney developer has joined the race to build Australia’s first high-rise hanging pool.
Platinum Investments, headed by Elias Armenis, wants to suspend an Instagram-friendly pool four storeys above the city in southern Surfers Paradise.
Its suspended glass-bottom sky pool will be 28 storeys above the ground and would be the highest in the world.
The project, which will have nearly 800 units, is still before the council.
Only a few hanging pools exist.
The world’s first all-glass sky pool opened in London in April 2021 and is suspended 35m above the streets of Embassy Gardens between two towers.
The pool became an immediate hit with social media influences vying to get photos inside the unusual clear-bottom pool.
The unnamed Platinum tower will have a mixture of two and three-bedroom units among its 113 apartments.
It will be capped by a three-level, five-bedroom unit on its top floors.
A small bar and restaurant is planned for its ground level.
The tower will sit just 25m from the light rail and is the latest in a wave of high-rise projects that have been proposed for the southern Surfers Paradise/Northern Broadbeach streets in recent weeks.
Experienced developers Morris Property Group and Gallery Group have all pitched new tower projects for the same area in the past week alone.
Others include Leith Group Developments and MRCB International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the publicly listed Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB).
There have been six towers pitched for Garfield Terrace in less than a year.
They include:
• Central Equity’s $500m, 56-storey Pacific One.
• ASF Group’s 19-storey The AU Surfers Paradise.
• Sammut Group’s 35-storey, $200m Coast tower.
• Frank Developments’ 31-storey Mira.
• Iris Capital’s 38-storey AALTO.
• KTQ Group’s 42-storey Seren.
