PLANS for a $430m tower next to one of the Gold Coast’s best-known surf lifesaving clubs has been given the green light.
The Gold Coast City Council has approved David Devine’s 24-storey Burly project, which will be built opposite the North Burleigh surf club.
The tower will be built by Mr Devine’s DD Living and will have 101 units, ranging from two to three bedrooms.
Mr Devine said construction would begin before Christmas, with the first residents moving in by 2026.
“We are excited to know that Burly will soon start to take shape and transform North Burleigh with its impeccable architectural design by Koichi Takada and interior treatments by Mim Design, who I have been working with for many years,” he said.
“Burly is inspired by six-star private residences around the world and the beautiful Burleigh Heads beach, with luxurious design treatments inside and out blending sophisticated cosmopolitan elegance and beachside living.
“We called the building Burly to evoke a sense of nostalgia as it was the original spelling of Burleigh back in the 1840s.”
Mr Devine last year dumped the already approved and sold-out Alba tower after successfully amalgamating its site on North Burleigh’s The Esplanade with neighbouring land for Burly.
