A GOLD Coast street will become home to the city’s newest community housing, with a modern unit block proposed for the site.
The seven-unit complex is proposed for a 586 sqm site on Southport’s Eugaree Street and will replace an existing two-unit house which will be demolished.

The two-storey building has been put forward by Community Housing Queensland and is part of an affordable housing scheme.
It will provide “long-term and low cost housing to eligible tenants on behalf of the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing”.

GOLD COAST’S MOST CONTROVERSIAL DEVELOPMENTS
There will be five two-bedroom units and two one-bedroom apartments.
Each will have a single car space, laundry closet and balcony.
A single unit will be built on the ground level and will have a 38 sqm backyard.
“Tenants will be long-term residents at this development and must meet eligibility criteria as set out in the Community Housing Rent Policy,” a planning report on the project reads.
The project will go before the council’s planning committee later this year.
