A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious leg injuries after a “fin chop” wound at a Gold Coast beach.

The woman in her late teens or early 20s was pulled from the water near Australia Ave, Broadbeach just after 11am.

It is understood a surfboard had run over her leg causing a deep wound.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman was in a serious but stable condition.

The rescue comes on the last day of school holidays and after a horror period on the surf.

A New Farm man died last week after drowning in rough water off The Spit.

Earlier this month six people were pulled from the water in a mass rescue at Narrowneck.
