A COAST dance school says their professional approach to the discipline has helped students in their careers and in everyday life.

Burleigh Heads studio National Academy of Performing Arts, or NAPA, has been crowned the Coast's Best Dance School, in the Bulletin’s Best of the Gold Coast series.

With more than 300 registered students, co-owner Kim Reynolds said she was grateful for the support from their community and was appreciative of the recognition.

Students also have the option to finish their schooling at NAPA starting from year 10 as well as a certificate 4 in musical theatre.

The production-based studio also specialises in musical theatre, acting, film and TV and dance.

Ms Reynolds said they took their time hiring teachers who exceeded expectations in their profession.

“We have had quite a few students who have gone off to play lead roles in musical theatre productions,” she said.

“We are family-orientated here but we are also a fairly disciplined studio.

“If kids want to pursue a career it will give them the tools they need and if they don't it will help them become a well-rounded individual.”

NAPA moved to their Burleigh Heads studio in 2017 after 11 years running out of Merrimac High School.

“We really needed to make the move,” Ms Reynolds said.
