A YOUNG Gold Coast mum hit by a truck on the way home from work cried when she woke and saw her three-month-old son, her friend says.
Angela Patocskai was cycling in Broadbeach north on the Gold Coast Highway about 1pm on May 25 when she was hit by a truck.
She was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with leg and abdomen injuries. The truck driver, 42, was not injured.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for the family.
“Angela has a three-month-old baby boy, and was riding home to be with him and her partner, Harley after completing her job as a domestic cleaner,” friend Jana Schik wrote on the page.
“Since then, Angela has been fighting for her life in intensive care at the Gold Coast University Hospital. She has sustained devastating injuries to her head, pelvis and abdominal organs.”
Ms Schik wrote on May 30 that the young mum had woken a second time.
“She was able to open her eyes and she cried seeing her beautiful son and husband by her side,” she said.
Earlier this week Ms Patocskai underwent more surgery.
“Overall she is getting stronger day by day. She can’t talk but she is able to communicate with Harley (her partner) through signs. She has smiled, nodded and held Harley’s hand,” she wrote on May 31.
According to the GoFundMe page Angela was on a student visa in Australia studying child care. She returned to work as a domestic cleaner only three weeks after giving birth, the page said. Her family live in Serbia and cannot be with her or her family.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and is appealing for information and dashcam vision.
Angela’s partner pleaded for answers.
“I need to know what happened to her,” he wrote on Facebook. “She’s in critical condition in ICU (intensive care unit). She’s by definition a ‘perfect person’, there is never a selfish thought that goes through this incredible girl’s head …”
