A man has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being pulled from the water following a surfing accident at the Gold Coast.

A SURFER has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being pulled from the water following a surfing accident at the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast City Council acting chief lifeguard Chris Maynard said the man in his 30s landed on his fin while surfing at Miami, causing a “large wound” to his upper thigh.
“He was lucky a guy did help him out of the beach,” Mr Maynard said.

“He did a great job actually, it could have been a lot worse if didn’t use his leg rope to create a tourniquet and minimise the bleeding.
“A member of the public notified lifeguards who gave him oxygen and applied first aid until paramedics arrived.”
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

A SURFER has been pulled from the water at the Gold Coast in a serious condition following a surfing incident.
Paramedics were called to Miami Beach just after 7.30am to reports a surfer was injured in the water and needed to be pulled ashore.
#Miami - Paramedics are on scene at a location off Marine Parade after a patient was reportedly pulled from the water following a surfing incident at 7.33am. The patient is in a serious condition with a significant leg injury. The High Acuity Response Unit is en route.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics are treating the man who was in a serious condition.
The high acuity response unit is on the way to the scene.
