Gold Coast Show 2019: Little equestrians saddle up for competition
A young equestrian competing at the Gold Coast Show is saddling up in hopes to score herself some prize money before putting it towards some of the show’s most famous items.

LITTLE Chanelle Lovelock and her trusty steed will make their annual pilgrimage to the Gold Coast Show next week with one thing of their mind — money.
“I like winning prize money,” says Chanelle, 8, matter-of-factly.
“I try hard to get some. With the prize money I like to buy show bags. The most I’ve won was $100.

“I also like riding with my friends. Some of them will be competing with me this year.”

Chanelle, a student at Benowa State School, and her “pretty” show horse Tinka hope to wow judges with their riding, strutting and ability to jump small obstacles.
Last year she was awarded champion leading rein pony for her impressive arm balance.
She has been competing at the Show since she was two.

For the first time, the equestrian section and other animal events will join the main Show at Broadwater Parklands, Southport. They were split last year and held at Owen Park.
The northern end of the Parklands will host the horse section of the show and will serve as a national qualifier event attracting professional and amateur competitors.
The 113th Gold Coast Show is held on August 30 to September 1.
More than 135,000 attended last year. Entry is free.
