The Gold Coast City Council has signed off on a new home for the beloved Gold Coast Show.
The event will make the Broadwater Parklands in Southport its permanent home for the next four years – doing away with the previous split campus used during the 2018 Show.
For the first time the 113-year-old show will take place by the water as a whole.
It will feature crafts and arts, equestrian and dogs being showcased across a 4km space.
The show, which is set to be held on August 30th to September 1st, last year attracted 135,000 people.
New Show Society president Josephine Tobias said the push to have the show in one location instead of in two areas was an expression of the coast’s city and country background coming together.
“No other event, not even the Commonwealth Games has activated the whole Broadwater,” she said.
“Think of the amazing Instagram shots by the water.
“At this stage we are still working out the logistics in regards to the cattle.”
A condition of council approval was that entry to the show remain free, a move which was wholeheartedly welcomed.
“We believe this is a family even where people can save their money to spend on rides, foot and showbags or simply spend nothing at all,” Ms Tobias said.

“We are an evolving city so our show is evolving and adapting along with it, while retaining our favourite traditions.”
The northern end of the parklands will play host to the full equestrian program and dog show which was held in Owen Park last year.
Closer to Sundale Bridge will be the sideshow alley, fireworks, wood chopping and other favourites.
Mayor Tom Tate said he was looking forward to seeing the new format, and has encouraged revellers to use the Gold Coast light rail.
“It’s fantastic news that the show has a home for the next four years,” he said. “What is equally exciting for me is that we have ensured they entry fee for all.”
