IT SEEMS like everyone trying to outdo each other by throwing gender reveal parties — but the Hannant family effort really takes the cake.
Hit 90.9 breakfast radio host Ben Hannant was blindfolded and had his short blonde hair permanently dyed while live on-air this morning.
He and his wife Emma will welcome their eighth child together early in the new year.
HANNANT’S CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY
The seven Hannant children, aged one to 13, also had their hair sprayed and covered in a cap.
But Ben’s guesswork left a bit to the imagination, confidently telling listeners “it’s a boy”, just moments before his pink hair was revealed to the world.
Regardless of the gender gaffe, he said he was delighted to be having another baby.
“It’s incredible. It’s a blessing to be able to bring another child into this world,” he told listeners.
“This baby coming is a princess and she will be super loved.”
His wife was emotional as she teared up after the reveal, saying she was excited and “loves” children.
“It’s an emotional rollercoaster for mums,” she said.

“I love it. I don’t get upset when I have to wake to the babies at night. I’ve been doing it for 13 years.”
Asked if this would be the last child the Hannant’s will be having, Mrs Hannant couldn’t answer: “Yes for now … but until the cord is snipped, we don’t know.”
Naming the new bub may be a challenge with Ben admitting they “running out of names”.
He said the pair don’t have any ideas just yet, but with 49 grandchildren on his side of the family there are limited choices.
The new baby will be a sister to Kyle, 13, Ella, 11, Brady, 7, Ava, 5, and Mia, 9, Channing, 3, Koa, 1.
