Movie World: Girl hit by ibis on Gold Coast HyperCoaster thrill ride

Shocking video has revealed the moment a girl riding a Gold Coast roller coaster was hit in the face by a rogue ibis. WATCH THE VIDEO

A woman riding the Gold Coast's DC Hypercoaster is hit in the face by an ibis.

WHILE most people expect thrills on the southern hemisphere’s biggest hypercoaster, these visitors to Movie World on the Gold Coast were treated to something quite different.

In a video shared to Facebook on Sunday afternoon, a girl named as Paige can be seen riding the DC Rivals HyperCoaster next to a man identified as Uncle Mitch.

All is going well until the first hill.

Paige can be seen screaming with her hands bravely held high until a bird, believed to be an ibis, hits her face.

She covers her face briefly in surprise before placing her hands back onto the handles.

It appears her enthusiasm remains intact for the remainder of the ride as she raises her hands again.

In the post to social media, Ms Ormiston writes: “She had feathers on her and a beak scratch on her right shoulder. She’s completely shocked, a little bruised but OK … Not sure about the bird? How can you not buy that video.”

In a still, it appears the bird was trying to fly away from them before the rollercoaster catches up.

The post has since attracted a lot of attention, having been shared more than 150 times.

Most comments are tags to other users with a laughing emoji, while some are concerned the ibis may have been hurt.
