RESIDENTS at an exclusive South Stradbroke Island resort where a woman was injured in a golf buggy accident this morning claim there have also been multiple “near misses” involving the vehicles.
A woman in her 50s was injured at Couran Cove Island Resort around 9.20am.
A resident, who did not wish to be named, told the Bulletin the woman’s vehicle collided with a second golf buggy on a bitumen track before crashing into a tree.
“They were travelling in the same direction and it looks like they’ve come around a corner and piled up,” the resident said.
Initial reports suggest the woman suffered chest pain and possible facial injuries, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

HOPE ISLAND RESIDENTS ERUPT OVER GOLF BUGGY ACCESS
Ambulance crews boarded a Volunteer Marine Rescue vessel to reach the island around 9.30am and were in the process of bringing her back to shore at 11.45am.
She was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Residents told the Bulletin incidents involving golf buggies were common on the island.
“There’s been several near misses over the last few years,” one said.
“It needs to be curtailed.”
The resident also took aim at the island’s access to emergency services.
“When something happens here it’s a schmozzle, because the triple-0 people don’t know where we are, they want a cross-street which we can’t give,” the resident said.
