A GOLD Coaster who worked at Hugh Jackman’s resort says her aunty inspired her to become a beauty therapist when she was younger.

Christie Cameron, one of the head therapists at cosmetic SSKIN clinic at Bundall, was voted the 2021 best beauty therapist in the Bulletin’s Best of the Gold Coast vote.

Ms Cameron said her aunty’s “lovely nails” and how she always looked pretty got her interested in the profession.

“What got me into the industry was to make a difference for people's confidence,’’ she said.

“Not just how they look but it helps your mental wellbeing.”

Ms Cameron graduated from the French Beauty Academy as Valedictorian in 2014 and got a job at Hugh Jackman’s six-star Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat.

“It was so incredible and luxurious,” she said.

“I learnt some incredible techniques there.”

Ms Cameron currently works at SSKIN which was founded a year ago by sisters Amy and Emilee Hembrow.

“I specialise in any type of skin concern, but I am really passionate about pigmentation,” she said.

“I wanted to blend the holistic ancient technology with modern-day technology and create an experience with skin rather than just going in for a treatment.

“I have seen with Covid people are relaxing more and falling into the notion of touch."
