10. Kylee Kendall
Kendall Fitness and Health, Upper Coomera
Kylee Kendall feeds off the energy of a group giving it their all. The personal trainer runs her own class fitness business and offers sessions in HIIT training, boxing and dance fitness. “I started out as a Les Mills instructor about eight years ago,” Kylee says. “I’ve always been really active myself and loved the community environment that provides. I ventured out on my own into personal training with still a focus on group fitness. The business has grown as the community has. It’s just an awesome area to be in.”

9. Kane Anderson
Specialcise, Southport
There’s plenty of reasons Kane Anderson enjoys coaching special needs children and adults in fitness, but one stands out above them all. “With other clients, they’re not always happy to see you,” he laughs. “With the special needs community, they’re always happy to see you and always have a good attitude.” Kane was inspired to open his gym Specialcise after training a mother and her daughter who has down syndrome. The mother, Maree McIntosh, is now Kane’s business partner and they have more than 40 special needs children and adults exercising with Kane regularly.
8. Sterling Rawson
FIT Culture HQ, Burleigh Heads
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOING VEGAN
Sterling Rawson is a walking wonder — a muscle machine powered by plants. The Fit Culture HQ trainer started a vegan diet about two years ago and says he’s never felt better. “People ask ‘how do you have a body like that on just plants?’” Sterling says. “I explain to them that some of the largest mammals in the world are all plant-based. It all comes down to education.” Sterling is passionate about nutrition but says he’s not one to push his diet on others. He trains in functional fitness for better movement in everyday life.

So it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert? Ian D’Andrade has doubled that, and then some. “I’ve done over 25,000 hours on the gym floor. I’ve been living and breathing it since school,” he says. The Never Quit Fit Factory trainer won best personal trainer back in 2016 and says he’s constantly spending money on his education to improve his skills. “It’s something I’m ridiculously passionate about doing,” Ian says. “It’s one thing to help someone get in shape, but if you can do that repeatedly across other genders and age groups hundreds of times, that’s the results.”
6. Mitchell Lowe
Snap Fitness, Pacific Pines
Being a dad is tough work, but Mitch Lowe is here to make it easier. The Pacific Pines Snap Fitness PT runs a fitness program for fathers called Legendaddy and is turning men into better versions of themselves one bootcamp at a time. “We’re all dads in this team, we all want to become fit, healthy, strong, confident leaders for our family,” Mitchell says. “They all have the same problems, goals, and they all move along together. They can lean on each other and get that strength from each other.” Mitchell specialises in group fitness training using boxing and callisthenics to build strength and shed fat.

Bec Crossley’s career in fitness didn’t follow a conventional route. The Ashmore F45 owner and fitness model started training in powerlifting and CrossFit while working as a commercial diver before opening her own healthy meal prep business in Sydney. It was here she learned about F45 and decided to invest in a studio on the Gold Coast. “My passion lies within functional training,” Bec says. “Functional training is enabling people to train for functionality and form. It’s helping people to be better at sport, be better at work, having a functional body with flexibility, mobility and strength.”
4. Jeff Rosenlund
EMF Performance Centre, Coomera
THE GOLD COAST’S BEST GYMS AS VOTED BY YOU
Jeff Rosenlund says he’s the busiest he’s ever been since taking on a job as a PT at EMF Coomera. “It’s the best gym I’ve ever worked at,” Jeff says. When you’re training with Jeff one-on-one, he’s entirely dedicated to you. “I treat every client like my only client,” Jeff says. “Some of my friends see me in the gym and wave and I don’t even see them because I’m with my client. I ask my clients their goals, and I work around that. I usually mostly do weights, then I’ll do some functional movement at the end — cross training with weight training.”
3. Oskar Tycho
PCYC Gold Coast, Broadbeach
IS THIS THE COAST’S MOST TALENTED SPORTING JUNIOR?
You won’t catch Oskar Tycho taking a selfie at his gym, but he might take some footage of you smashing your PB (that’s personal best, for the non-lifting bros). “Being a personal trainer is not about how you look,” Oskar says. “My job is to care about my clients. I want them to succeed. I wouldn’t say I’m different, I just don’t get caught up in all the Instagram and social media side of things.” Oskar took on work experience at the PCYC as part of his fitness studies five years ago and was offered a job after he finished. He specialises in high intensity workouts that burn fat and increase muscle in 45-minute sessions.
