“It was pretty close throughout the whole game and I was playing against a lot of my friends who I know,” she said of her team’s final against Ipswich side Met West.
After competing as a bottom-aged player last year, 2019 saw Usher take the next step and after her stellar performance, she has been named in the Queensland basketball school sport team set to compete in Bendigo in August.
“To hear my named called out felt awesome,” she said.
“I work really hard so it felt good.”
Fellow Gold Coast products Jaya Lowe and Malachi Witehira were also selected in the Queensland side.
When Usher isn’t shooting hoops on the basketball court or winning state ironwoman titles, she is balancing her two other sporting loves.
After winning two gold and a bronze at the Queensland State Swimming Championships, Usher recently qualified for the national swimming championships in Melbourne and will also compete at the Queensland AFL school state titles this weekend.
With a number of sporting codes vying for her signature in the future, at least for now, Usher is undecided as to her sporting pathway.
“I like them all equally,” she said.
