Over 70 Gold Coast dads have joined the male-only bootcamp called Legendaddy — which is all about improving physical and mental health for dads so they can be better physically and mentally for their families.
Pimpama resident Doug Kirby started the fitness group in July as he wanted to be a better father to his three children.
“Its really helped me become a better father for my kids and benefited my wife as I’m a lot better physically and mentally.”
“My kids love it. I’ve been getting out more and having fun with them.”
“They’ve always had a dad, but dad’s just got a little better.”
Since starting the program in July, Mr Kirby said he’s lost 21kgs.
“I was 160kgs and was really unhappy. I was making jokes about my weight and just not taking time for myself.”

Legendaddy trainer Mitch Lowe, 23, said he started the mens training group after noticing their wasn’t really any mens groups for dads.
“I work with guys who want to be better fathers and husbands,” Mr Lowe said.
“A lot of them are hard working fathers that are working so hard for the people they care about in their lives they forget to care about themselves.”
