A LONG empty block of land just metres away from a $500 million mega development will itself be transformed, with two modern towers planned for the site.
Developer SRI Fiduciaries Pty Ltd ATF SRI Property Trust has filed a development application with the Gold Coast City Council to build a giant residential care facility on the corner of Southport’s Queen and Nerang streets.

The eight-storey towers will be connected by a podium and bridge on its upper levels and w will have 25 units for residents, plus four apartments for carers.
It will provide a range of specialist disability accommodation (SDA) housing for people living with disabilities or requiring assisted living.

“It is intended to provide people with disabilities with accommodation away from a
hospital or nursing home environment that allows them to integrate with the general community and live in a more positive and comfortable environment that is typical of a standard apartment/dwelling while being able to access the level of care required to support them with daily living,” a planning report on the project said.
The site has largely been empty since the early 1990s.
It will sit immediately across an intersection from the $500 million Queen Street Village development which is now under construction.
