ONE of the Gold Coast’s best-known beachside towers will be demolished this week to make way for a new $77 million luxury high-rise.

Demolition teams will on Monday bring out the heavy machinery and take the wrecking ball to the nine-level Aspect on Burleigh tower built just 17 years ago by Mimi Macpherson, the sister of Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson.

It will be replaced by the luxury 17-level Natura project from Brisbane developer Spyre Group.

It will feature 33 half-floor, three-bedroom apartments.

More than 80 per cent of its units have sold since the project launched in March, with just eight remaining on the market.

CONDEV Construction will demolish the building in coming weeks, with construction of Natura scheduled to begin later this year.

Spyre Group director Andrew Malouf said the company was happy with the sales amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In selecting this site we knew that its location, combined with what we were planning to create, would strike a chord with the local market and we’ve been very pleased to see this has been the case,” he said.

“Natura has been uniquely designed to cater to a market of local owner-occupiers who seek larger sized luxury residences on the Gold Coast.”
