Two women have been charged after an alleged assault at a Parramatta shopping centre on Monday evening.
A brawl broke out after police allege a woman attempted to steal an item from a shop inside Westfield Parramatta around 5.30pm.
Nine News reported that the item in question was a wig.
When two shopkeepers tried to stop the woman, a fight allegedly broke out and spilt into a Kathmandu store opposite.
Footage of the brawl showed hair being pulled, stalls being knocked over and one woman being dragged out of the store by her feet, kicking and screaming, still clutching her shopping bags.
Bystanders appear to enter the shop to help break up the fight.
The women then left the scene.
Police said one of the shopkeepers suffered minor injuries but did not require treatment.
The two women, aged 19 and 22, returned to the shop where they were arrested by police.
“The younger woman has been issued a court attendance notice for common assault and two counts of shoplifting,” police said in a statement.
The 22-year-old has been charged with common assault.
Both women will attend Parramatta Local Court on March 29.
