The man who was knocked out outside a wedding on Sydney’s lower north shore had travelled to the ceremony from a small town in the state’s Hilltop region.
The 26-year-old man suffered a broken nose plus other injuries and was left sprawled out on the six lane section of Spit Rd, near Parriwi Rd, in Mosman about 11.35pm on February 19.
Police have since taken a statement from the man who is from the town of Wirrimah.
The wedding had taken place at a waterfront reception centre on The Spit, but a brawl broke out when guests were waiting out the front for transport.
Up to 30 people — including men dressed in suits and women in formal wear — were involved in the fight.
Police were delayed in the initial stages of their investigation with the wedding guests plus the bride and groom unavailable to make a formal complaint or make a statement.
Investigators are now examining CCTV and are planning to make a second approach to witnesses for information.
Video of the brawl was uploaded to social media.
The person who filmed the fight can be heard remarking: “This is after a wedding. Not sure the context but the groomsmen and guests were fighting among themselves.”
In the video, suit jackets can be seen discarded on the road as one group of four women and a group of four men fight on the road.
A car with its headlights on can be seen in the video in front of the man lying on his back, arms spread eagled, on the road.
Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor to the fight occurring.
