In a Mid-North Coast town beset by youth crime, one offender has fronted court to plead guilty to firearms and break and enter charges.

Cyril Davis appeared in Kempsey Local Court on Wednesday charged with a long list of offences including breaking and entering a house, wounding a person and stealing a car.

Kempsey is a town gripped by youth crime with many of the brazen acts posted and boasted about online.

Davis has not been charged with any ‘post and boast’ offence but has pleaded guilty to breaking into a house and stealing (of a value less than $60,000).

The 22-year-old has also pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited firearm and possessing an unauthorised pistol.

Meanwhile he has pleaded not guilty to stealing a car.

He faces a long list of other charges for which he is yet to enter pleas and these include aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence (wounding); aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence while people were present; and being carried in a stolen car.

Several other charges are to be withdrawn including affray, aggravated break and enter in company and stealing.

Davis was granted bail on February 5 this year after spending almost six months remanded in custody at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre.

While on bail he must report to Toukley Police Station on the Central Coast seven days a week.

He must abide by a night-time curfew and abstain from alcohol and drugs.

He will be sentenced for the offences he has pleaded guilty to on August 14.

The other matters will be adjourned to September 17.
