The true extent of fugitive underworld figure Masood Zakaria’s millions can be revealed after he and his wife agreed their cash was the proceeds of crime and will forfeit it to the NSW Crime Commission.
The senior member of the Alameddine crime network, who is believed to be hiding in the Middle East, has left his wife, Azzah, in Australia to deal with how they will disperse their wealth.
At the top of the commission’s wish list are their homes in Merrylands and Greystanes and a total of $200,000 in cash.
According to court documents, the commission is also seeking to empty two bank accounts belonging to Azzah Zakaria, as well seize a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle registered in her name.
Ms Zakaria also goes by the name Ezzat Alameddine.
Her husband is currently on the run overseas after NSW Police issued a warrant for his arrest over the botched attempt to take our rival Ibrahem Hamze in North Sydney last year.
The commission is seeking to seize his boat, boat ramp and a dual cab Ford Ranger as well as his shares in a company called Zak Services Pty Ltd.
The funds in the company’s bank account are also scheduled to be going straight to the crime commission’s coffers.
The moves come only a few months after the couple’s Greystanes home had to be put up for sale as part of the commission’s proceedings.
The gangster’s fortress included metal shutters across the windows, a high metal fence a large entertaining area to the rear of the home.
A video promoting its sale showed Zakaria’s Nike shirts and manbags still in place despite him fleeing the country almost six months before the house went up for sale.
Zakaria’s last known whereabouts was Istanbul, Turkey, where he was training with fellow Sydney underworld figure Murat Gulasi when he suddenly collapsed in a gym.
