Homicide Squad detectives have extradited and charged a man in connection with the murder of Jamie Goodworth earlier this year.
Goodworth, 32, was part of a group who tried to break in to the property of a man with suspected links to the Assyrian Kings just after midnight in Edensor Park on February 24.
But as Goodworth, the bikie gang’s Sergeant at Arms, tried to break the front door down, the man on the other side opened fire from close range, shooting him twice.
An unconscious Goodworth was dumped at the door of Liverpool Hospital by his associates, before dying during emergency surgery.
In response, the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Heye to investigate the case.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed search warrants on Tuesday in Bonnyrigg and Leppington in NSW, as well as in Surfers Paradise and Hawthorne in Queensland.
During the searches police seized electronics, cash, and various documents pertinent to the investigation.
At the Surfers Paradise address, officers arrested a 24-year-old man, who appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where Homicide Squad detectives successfully applied for his extradition.
By 3pm the same day, the man was transported to Sydney and taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with murder.
He has been refused bail and is set to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
Police allege that Jamie Goodworth was shot while attempting an aggravated break and enter on Flack Close in Edensor Park.
