Driver charged after pedestrian fatally struck by car on King Georges Rd, Blakehurst

The pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

A driver has been charged after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in Sydney’s south overnight.

Emergency services were called to King Georges Rd in Blakehurst shortly before 6.50pm on Tuesday following reports of a crash.

Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the pedestrian – a 60-year-old woman – died at the scene.

The driver – a 28-year-old man – was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced by the Crash Investigation Unit into the circumstances of the crash.

Following release from the hospital, the man was arrested and taken to St George Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death) – and his licence suspended.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on May 20.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
