A man has been charged over his alleged involvement in planning the murder of infamous underworld boss Mahmoud “Brownie” Ahmad in April.

Ahmad, 39, was gunned down in a Greenacre street on April 27 after receiving multiple warnings from police about threats to his safety – including plans to kill him.

As part of their investigations NSW Police first arrested a 49-year-old man on May 2 following an operation at Campsie and a subsequent raid on a home at Weatherill Park.

During that raid police allegedly seized more than 25kg of methylamphetamine (ice), with an estimated potential street value of more than $22 million.

Officers also seized $200,000 cash and cloned number plates.

The man was in custody when police last week laid new charges against him in relation to the alleged murder of Ahmad.

Task Force Erebus investigators charged him with one count of accessory before the fact to murder, and accessory after the fact to murder.

He is due to face Fairfield Local Court on July 6.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the planning of Ahmad’s death.

Ahmad was the eleventh contract killing on Sydney’s streets in the last 18 months.

There have since been three more, including that of his step-nephew Rami Iskander in May.
