A mystery man who sat at the table with Comanchero bosses Allan Meehan and Tarek Zahed, and their high-profile associate Mohamad “Almo” Alameddine is a long time bikie associate and convicted drug importer.
George Lergou was jailed in 2014 for nine years for supplying and importing drugs in NSW.
But since his release from prison Lergou has established himself as a much trusted figure alongside some of the biggest names in the Comanchero bikie gang, the nation’s most powerful criminal organisation.
Lergou is so close to Zahed that he featured in his return to social media last month after the assassination attempt at an Auburn gym in May, that claimed the life of his brother Omar Zahed.
“He is a very close friend of Tarek’s, he’s been close to the Comos for years,” one source said.
Wearing a Balmain T-shirt worth more than $500, Lergou looked the part next to Zahed in a $2,000 Fendi jumper, Meehan in a $1,600 Versace tracksuit and Alameddine in a $1,950 Louis Vuitton knit.
In one photo from the Melbourne dinner he stuck his middle finger up for the camera, showing off his heavily-tattooed arm and hands.
Lergou’s name is one that is well known in both underworld and policing circles, but he is understood to be much happier to avoid the spotlight than some of his other bikie mates.
That may have been a lesson learned in 2013 when Lergou was arrested and charged with both state and commonwealth drug offences.
It was alleged he had been involved in dealings with two undercover operatives “who posed as importers of 25 kilograms of cocaine”.
Convicted of attempting to import a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug, he was sentenced to a maximum nine years in prison.
But after serving his non-parole period Lergou was released from jail in September 2018.
However Lergou’s time on the outside came to a sudden halt months later when he was charged after being caught in possession of a prohibited drug.
Lergou was put back behind bars for two months, before being granted parole again – on the condition he be of good behaviour.
But his parole was soon revoked once more after being caught driving with cocaine and methamphetamine in his system.
Lergou appealed the efforts of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions to return him to jail, but his bid was rejected by Justice Cavanagh in the NSW Supreme Court.
