A man has been charged over a triple shooting in Sydney where an innocent person was killed and two others seriously injured in a case of mistaken identity.
Police allege that Adam Elshaimy, 35, was involved in the shooting which killed Ahmad Al-Azzam in the early hours of July 23 last year at Greenacre.
Mr Al-Azzam, 25, was sitting in his parked car on Mayvic Street when it is alleged a car drove past and opened fire believing he may have been part of a plot to kidnap an associate of the Haoucher crime family who lived nearby.
Two other people, Kaashif Richards, 22 and Achiraya Jantharat, 25 who were parked in another car were also shot and seriously injured.
None of the three shot had any involvement in crime or criminal records and police believe they were mistaken as part of a hit team.
Mr Richards is now a quadriplegic after the shooting.
Six other people were arrested in December last year in connection to the shooting.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Anthony Pele, 22, who police allege was the triggerman in the shooting and has since fled overseas.
Elshaimy did not appear on screen at Liverpool Local Court, and the court heard Sydney criminal lawyer Abdul Saddik will make a bail application tomorrow at Burwood Local Court.
He was remanded in custody.
