Man charged in major operation targeting bikie gangs in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire

Police are conducting operations to disrupt outlawed motorcycle gangs and organised crime networks in the Sutherland Shire.

A man has been charged after police seized drugs and a knife in a major two-day operation targeting bikie gangs and organised criminal networks operating out of Sydney’s Sutherland Shire region. 

Operation Armour was conducted on Thursday in partnership with a whole-command strategic campaign to gather intelligence and disrupt illegal bikie activity. 

A man in Sylvania was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station just after 8am on Friday. 

The 33-year-old was charged with three counts of possessing prohibited drugs, supplying prohibited drugs, and custody of a knife in a public place.

When his vehicle was searched police uncovered and seized substances, alleged to be prohibited drugs. They will undergo forensic examination.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court later on Tuesday. 

Police also underwent Firearms Prohibition Order (FPOs) searches, Apprehended Violence Order (AVOs) checks, person searches, vehicle searches, business inspections as well as multiple roadside breath and drug tests during the operation.

As a result, police issued 33 Traffic Infringement Notices (TINs) to drivers/riders.

Local resources including general duties police, detectives, licensing officers and proactive teams were utilised, as well as regional units from Raptor, Region Enforcement Squad Central Metropolitan Region, Traffic and Highway Patrol, Central Metropolitan High Visibility Patrol, Marine Area Command, the Dog Unit and PolAir.

Further operations are planned to prevent and disrupt OCN/OMCG activity in the area.
