IMPORTS performing, bench players sparking and red-hot shooting have combined to deliver the Sydney Uni Flames one of their best victories this year ahead of the club’s toughest eight-day period this WNBL season.
Flames captain Belinda Snell said there is no secret to her teams success — it’s all about sharing the load.
“There is no one star, everyone is contributing,’’ Snell said in the wake of the Flames toppling league leaders, Bendigo Spirit, 93-86 overtime win in their round eight outing.
“We are getting contributions from everyone and that is making a big different.
“We have a good mix of veterans and young ones, we have plenty coming off the bench and players that can add real spark.

“And we have a really good spread of scorers. Everyone is playing really well as a team. There is no one star.’’
Against Spirit the scoring was shared, with Leilani Mitchell contributing 18 points and 11 assists. Jennifer Hamson 17 points and 11 rebounds, Asia Taylor 16 points and 10 rebounds and Snell 16 points.
The Sydney side now heads to Melbourne to play Dandenong on Saturday and the Boomers on Sunday.
The teams then play a third away match against Canberra the following Thursday and Bendigo again two days later in a big test of their fitness and endurance.
