DIV 3 SEMI-FINAL: METRO SOUTH WEST 3 CANBERRA 1

REPLAY: NSW U15's Boys State Hockey Championships – Sydney South vs Metro South West 1

The talented athletes at Metro South West have qualified for the Division 3 grand final following a strong 3 – 1 semi final victory over Canberra.

Both teams eased into the finals battle before Metro South West took charge in the opening stages of the second quarter with an field goal off the stick of Finley Wells earning a 1 nil lead.

Desperate Canberra defence and impressive goalkeeping kept the team in the game until the final quarter where a deflected strike by Metro South West had the ball rolling around the goalface for Mason Palamer to nudge it home in for a 2 nil lead.

A classy movement started and finished by Metro South West’s Isaac Braganza all but iced the game for his team.

Canberra scored a consolation goal when a power strike by Louis Robertson off a short corner was finished by his teammates in front of the goal.

DIV 2 SEMI-FINAL: CANBERRA 2 SYDNEY EAST 1

Canberra will feature in the Division 2 grand final after celebrating a hard-fought 2 – 1 victory over Sydney East.

An opening goal to Canberra’s Jesse Raymond after five minutes of action brought about an early lead, however it was short lived.

Just five minutes later Sydney East showed they meant business with a classy attack resulting in an impressive bounce-back goal.

The Canberrans took advantage of a short corner early in the second quarter to reclaim the lead and didn’t relinquish it until the final whistle.

Canberra will take on hometown heroes Hockey New England in the grand final at 12:40pm.

DIV 1 SEMI-FINAL: NORTH WEST SYDNEY 4 PARKES 0

REPLAY: NSW U15's Boys State Hockey Championships – North West Sydney 1 vs Parkes 1

A dominant display by North West Sydney has earnt a place in the Division 1 grand final, comprehensively beating Parkes 4 nil.

The competition heavy weights broke down the Parkes defence early in the second quarter courtesy of a class finish to William Collins.

Only minutes later the lead was doubled as North West Sydney effectively set up camp in the Parkes penalty area, with Kyle Doughty slotting the goal

Two goals in the final quarter, including a classy team passage off a short corner which was finished by Collins at the far post and a final goal to Josh Robson, saw the final score read 4 nil.

North West Sydney will compete in the grand final at 1:50pm

DIV 3 GRAND FINAL: COFFS COAST 1 METRO SOUTH WEST 0

REPLAY: NSW U15's Boys State Hockey Championships – Coffs Harbour vs Metro South West

The boys from the Coffs Coast have won the Division 3 grand final with a single goal to Riley Meenahan proving the difference.

Metro South West had the momentum early in the match with superb goalkeeping and desperate defence by Coffs Coast keeping the scores level.

Midway through the third quarter the Metro South West defence was penetrated after back-to-back penalty corners, with Meenahan pouncing on the loose ball and struck what later proved to be the matchwinner.

Metro South West tried valiantly to mount a comeback but ultimately didn’t succeed.

DIV 2 GRAND FINAL: CANBERRA 4 NEW ENGLAND 1

Canberra has stunned the hometown New England outfit to win the Division 2 grand final after a surge of early goals

The Canberrans came charging out of the blocks early with an opening goal just four minutes into the match which shocked the large home crowd.

A second first quarter goal saw Canberra enter the break with a 2 nil lead.

Ky Garratt extended the lead for his Canberra team in the opening minute of the second quarter with his urgency in the penalty circle being rewarded with a goal.

Just a minute later Garratt was on the attack once more which resulted in a penalty stroke, which he had no problems dispatching for a 4 nil lead.

A goal shortly after to New England threatened a comeback but no more goals were forthcoming for either side, with the grand final ending 4 – 1.

DIV 1 GRAND FINAL: NORTH WEST SYDNEY 2 TAMWORTH 1

REPLAY: NSW U15's Boys Hockey State Championships – New England vs Canberra

North West Sydney have been crowned NSW Hockey under 15 boys champions after celebrating a 2 nil grand final victory over Tamworth.

The even-matched contest between the two leading teams of Division 1 broke open in the third quarter when Cedric Timpers at the far post finished a classy penalty corner movement.

A major injury to a Tamworth player halted play for about 30 minutes at the three quarter break before the teams returned for a high energy final quarter.

Some desperate defence and strong goalkeeping held the North West Sydney attack at bay for a period, until the tournament’s leading scorer Joshua Robson iced the game with five minutes remaining.
