PR queen Roxy Jacenko has exclusively revealed she will definitely be at the prison gates with her children and family to collect her husband Oliver Curtis when he is released on June 23.
Speaking exclusively to Wentworth Courier, Jacenko, 36, said she and the children would “absolutely” be there to collect the investment banker from the Cooma correctional Centre gates where he has been incarcerated since last year over a $1.4 million insider trader scam, despite speculation the marriage was on the rock
“Yes. Absolutely [we will be at the gates],” Jacenko said. “The kids are looking forward to having their father back. Remember Pixie hasn’t seen Oli for 12 months, so it’s very important we’re there.”
Jacenko, who says she hasn’t told Pixie, 5, or her younger brother Hunter, 3, their father has been in jail for the past year, said she would still not explain the situation.
“She’ll think she’s picking him up from work. She doesn’t know any different,” she said.
Jacenko, who has her third In Conversation seminar coming up at The Westin in two weeks, also praised Curtis’s skills as a dad.
“He’s a good guy. He’s a good dad. I can’t fault him in that respect at all. He’s been an amazing father to the children and he’ll come out and he’ll go back to work and his life will resume as an investment banker.”
She did reveal she had resigned as director of Curtis’s company, Encounter Investments, last week, explaining there was no need for her to be involved any more.
“I resigned as a director last week. I’m a business person. The reality is Oli is coming out, he can sign his own paperwork, I’ve got my own business to run, he doesn’t need me as a signatory anymore.”
Speaking about the jail fight her husband had last month, which saw him locked down in his jail cell for 24 hours, Jacenko said it was out of character but would definitely have been because of the intense environment he is in and that it was verbal only, not physical.
“He’s not the kind of person to get into an altercation. When you’re in that environment, it’s a confined space. People are under duress. I come to blows with mum in the office when we work too closely! Who in life doesn’t have disagreements?”
She was also quick to hose down speculation the absence of her wedding ring meant anything.
“Who wears their rings to the gym?” she said, further adding, “I don’t even care [what is printed]. I actually could not care less. If I stand next to someone I must be seeing them. If I stand next to a male client it must be something sinister!
“It’s all just click bait. I stand holding a hamburger, the headline will say I’ve lost my way and I’m eating junk food! It’s rubbish,” she laughed.
As for looking forward to seeing her husband when he finishes his sentence, the PR guru was quick to respond:
“It’ll be very nice for him to be home for the children.”
