A south coast rugby league fanatic’s final movements after he was left for dead at a unit have been revealed as Homicide Squad detectives release CCTV footage.

Homicide Squad detectives have released CCTV as part of an appeal into the death of a rugby league fan after he was left for dead on the south coast.

An investigation was launched by police after Rodney Strybis was found with serious head injuries at a Brinawarr St unit in Bomaderry about 1pm on May 15.

He was treated at the scene paramedics and taken to Shoalhaven Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

South coast police began inquiries before State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force McCanna.

Strike force detectives have now released CCTV of Mr Strybis walking through the foyer of the Bomaderry Hotel a day before his death and at a recycling station on Meroo St in Bomaderry on the day of.

Police were appealing for anyone who may have information about Mr Strybis last known movements, as well as knowledge of any suspicious behaviour in the area around the same time.

Tributes flowed along the south coast for the grandfather and diehard Nowra Bomaderry Jets and Cronulla Sharks fan in the weeks after his death.

His daughter described her father as “one of a kind” who would always help people when needed.

Jets president Jason Sharp said the club mourned the charismatic volunteer’s death who always put his hand up to help the club.

Investigations under Strike Force McCanna continue.
